I’ve replaced the 3 previously uploaded MQ stills with HQ pictures, and I’ve also added 5 new ones — in HQ as well, of course. You can check them all out in our gallery below! Doesn’t Katrina look absolutely badass?
Don’t forget to tune in next week, February 5 at 8/7c on The CW to watch Katrina’s episode!
I’ve just uploaded the first 3 photos of Katrina as Nyssa al Ghul in the February 5 episode of Arrow entitled “Heir to the Demon” to our gallery. You can check them out below!
Katrina Makes Her Debut as Nyssa, the Daughter of Ra’s al Ghul
The Heir to the Demon comes to Starling City.
Arrow has been exploring the DC Comics universe in increasingly notable and cool ways as it’s progressed and Season 2 has seen multiple references to a major player in DC who’s also familiar to all those who saw Christopher Nolan’s Batman films – none other than Ra’s al Ghul. Now, in the February 5th episode of Arrow, called “Heir to the Demon,” we’ll meet one of Ra’s al Ghul’s daughters, as Katrina Law (Spartacus) makes her debut on the series as Nyssa.
In the comics, Nyssa is the half-sister to Talia al Ghul and known as Nyssa Raatko. Her comic book journey has included plotting to assassinate Superman with a kryptonite bullet, only to be thwarted by Batman, and becoming the co-head of the League of Assassins, alongside Talia. On next week’s Arrow, Nyssa will be introduced as a member of the League of Assassins who want to draw Sara Lance/Canary (Caity Lotz) back into the fold. Sara isn’t so agreeable however, leading to Nyssa upping the stakes and kidnapping someone close to Sara.
Arrow executive producer Andrew Kreisberg explained, “Our Nyssa certainly has shades of Talia. Katrina auditioned for Shado and it actually came down to Katrina and Celina [Jade] and honestly, part of it was just that because we knew she’d have scenes with Slade [played by Manu Bennett], and it just felt like a Spartacus overkill. But she’s somebody that we’ve been a fan of. When this part came up, we saw a lot of people for it, but she certainly is exotic and beautiful and smart and our stunt guys are over the moon, because she can do a lot of her own stunts.” Kreisberg also noted that Nyssa is, “the next wave of the League of Assasins that comes to Starling City. But she has some interesting secrets as well…”
Talk about some of the villains coming in during the second half of the season.
Guggenheim: Robert Knepper is coming in Episode 12 [as the Clock King]. He plays a bad guy, but there’s an expectation when Robert Knepper plays a bad guy that you’ll be seeing a very specific version of Robert. What’s wonderful about his turn on Arrow is that he’s every bit as scary as we’ve seen him be before, but in a completely different way. He really took a lot of inspiration from his character being the Clock King in the comics. Then we have Katrina Law coming in Episode 13 as Nyssa al Ghul. She is outstanding. We loved having her on the show. We thought she was the perfect embodiment of the daughter of Ra’s al Ghul.

The CW has released the official episode description of Katrina’s February 5 episode of Arrow.
ALEX KINGSTON AND KATRINA LAW (“SPARTACUS”) GUEST STAR — As Laurel (Katie Cassidy) continues to unravel, Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Lance (Paul Blackthorne) try to convince Sara (guest star Caity Lotz) to stay in Starling City and finally reunite with Laurel and Dinah (guest star Alex Kingston). However, Sara’s fellow League of Assassins member, Nyssa (guest star Katrina Law, “Spartacus”), comes to bring Sara back to the fold, but when Sara refuses, Nyssa kidnaps Dinah. Realizing she’s putting her family in danger by staying in town, Sara considers re-joining the league. Wendey Stanzler directed the episode written by Jake Coburn (#213).

NATALIE: Interestingly enough, Arrow‘s version of Nyssa (Katrina Law), who is sent to hunt down Sara Lance, will be similar to her sister Talia al Ghul. “She’s the next wave of the League of Assassins that comes to Starling City,” explains executive producer Andrew Kreisberg. “She’s certainly exotic, beautiful and smart. She has some interesting secrets as well.” (Fun fact: Law almost landed the role of Shado, but because she’d share so many scenes with Manu Bennett, they thought it would be Spartacus overkill.)
On Katrina Law’s Character Nyssa al Ghul: “She’s a member of the League of Assassins and she comes to town and she’s the next wave of the League of Assassins that comes to Starling City,” Kreisberg said. “She has some interesting secrets as well. So…”
I’ve uploaded two photos of Katrina doing stunt training for ‘Arrow’ as well as one on-set photo of her shooting for episode 2×13 Heir to the Demon, with special thanks to episode director Wendey Stanzler and stunt coordinator James Bamford. You can check these photos out in the gallery below!
The daughter of Ra’s al Ghul is coming to Starling City — but it’s not exactly who you’d expect.
Spartacus alum Katrina Law has been tapped to play Ra’s al Ghul’s other progeny, Nyssa al Ghul, on Arrow, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.
On The CW series, Nyssa is a powerful member of the League of Assassins who comes to Starling City in pursuit of The Canary (Caity Lotz).
In the comics, it’s revealed that Ra’s al Ghul had a love child while traveling through Russia, making Nyssa the half-sister of Talia al Ghul, whom Marion Cotillard portrayed in The Dark Knight Rises. With Nyssa coming to town, it may give some credence to a popular theory that Isabel Rochev (Summer Glau) is secretly Talia — or we could just be crazy!
Law, whose other credits include Legend of the Seeker and Chuck, will first appear in the 13th episode of Season 2, aptly titled “Heir to the Demon.” Law’s casting marks yet another Spartacusreunion of sorts. Manu Bennett plays series regular Slade Wilson and Cynthia Addai-Robinsonrecently joined the cast as Amanda Waller.
