Meet the stars of CW’s Arrow at Florida Supercon!

Katrina Law stars in Arrow as Nyssa al Ghul, a member of the League of Assassins who arrives in Starling City looking for fellow Assassin Sara Lance, otherwise known as The Black Canary.

After graduating with a Theater degree from The Richard Stockton College of NJ, Katrina’s acting education continued on in the big cities of Philadelphia and New York. There she not only deepened her understanding of acting as an art form, but she also sharpened her teeth on the business of acting. In New York City she earned her S.A.G. eligibility on the set of Numbers with Nora Ephron and John Travolta and finally joined S.A.G. when she booked a Guest Star on NY’s “The Third Watch”. Since then she has gone on to act in many exciting projects including a three episode arc as the Mord’Sith “Garen” in Legend of the Seeker and as the series regular “Mira” in the hit new show Spartacus: Blood and Sand.

Check the convention’s official website at FloridaSupercon.com for more information on the event itself and how to get your tickets! Katrina’s former Spartacus co-star Manu Bennett will also be in attendance.

Arrow brought to life an iconic comic-book character on Wednesday night as Ra’s al Ghul’s daughter Nyssa came to Starling City in search of Sara — and planted a kiss on her!

Below, executive producers Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim reveal the story behind the surprise twist and what Sara being home means for her romantic future.

[…]

LOCKING LIPS | The decision to have a romantic relationship between Nyssa and the younger Ms. Lance “was really more about Sara than anything else,” explains Kreisberg. “We thought about this at the beginning of the season. If you watch [Episode] 205, there’s a reference to ‘the beloved’ and ‘you think that’s going to keep you safe.’ We talked about, ‘Does Ra’s al Ghul have a son?’ Then we were like, ‘Could it be Talia?’ We felt like Talia had just been done in the movies.” Ultimately, one of the writers suggested Nyssa, which “felt like something new and different.”

Kreisberg maintains that the pairing isn’t meant to be “salacious.” Rather, “It’s a pretty chaste relationship from what you see on screen,” he continues. “For us, it just touched on a couple of interesting things like the idea that Sara found herself in this terrible world and found this one person who treated her with love and kindness.” And although Sara ends the episode reuniting with Oliver, “We actually specifically avoid using the term ‘bisexual,’” points out Guggenheim. “We didn’t want to label her at all.”

But her past will come back to haunt her: Katrina Law will reprise her role as Nyssa later this season. As for whether Sara and Oliver are a couple now, “That’s actually part of the journey of these next five episodes,” reveals Kreisberg. “Oliver has not had many successful relationships, and part of him and Sara moving forward is [the question of], ‘Is this something that can work given both of our [pasts]?’”

The Heir to the Demon is coming!

Nyssa al Ghul (Spartacus’ Katrina Law), the daughter of infamous villain Ra’s al Ghul, will make her way to Starling City on Wednesday’s episode of Arrow (8/7c, The CW) in an attempt to bring Sara (Caity Lotz) back to the League of Assassins.

“Second to him, she’s one of the most important figures in the League,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg told reporters following a screening of Wednesday’s episode. “They sent their first round of minions to come for Sara and that didn’t go so well for them, so now they’re bringing out the big guns. The way Nyssa comes into the story is in a far more provocative and surprising way than the last round.”

Since Talia al Ghul had recently been portrayed by Marion Cotillard in The Dark Knight Rises, the producers decided that taking a look at the lesser-known daughter would bring a fresh perspective to the League of Assassins. “I love the fact that she hasn’t been in any movies,” Law said. “Interpretation is left wide open to the writers and myself. I love that she’s only been in the comic books, I think, a total of 19 times. Everything about her is just wide open.”

Unfortunately for Sara, Nyssa doesn’t plan on taking no for an answer, even going to so far as to kidnap Sara and Laurel’s (Katie Cassidy) mother Dinah (Alex Kingston) to convince her to leave Starling City. “It’s one of her worst nightmares and the hardest thing to happen is for Nyssa to come back,” Lotz said. “When Nyssa does [return], Sara is not sure what she’s going to do and she definitely gets tested.”

“It’s not that the League of Assassins is all evil and bad memories,” Lotz continued. “Her heart is tied into it. They saved her life and rescued her, and made her into who she was. She still does have part of her heart in it. They’re also her family. Her blood family is stronger for her, but it’s not an easy decision. [There’s] definitely a lot of gray area for her.”

Talk about some of the villains coming in during the second half of the season.
Guggenheim: Robert Knepper is coming in Episode 12 [as the Clock King]. He plays a bad guy, but there’s an expectation when Robert Knepper plays a bad guy that you’ll be seeing a very specific version of Robert. What’s wonderful about his turn on Arrow is that he’s every bit as scary as we’ve seen him be before, but in a completely different way. He really took a lot of inspiration from his character being the Clock King in the comics. Then we have Katrina Law coming in Episode 13 as Nyssa al Ghul. She is outstanding. We loved having her on the show. We thought she was the perfect embodiment of the daughter of Ra’s al Ghul.

The CW has released the official episode description of Katrina’s February 5 episode of Arrow.

ALEX KINGSTON AND KATRINA LAW (“SPARTACUS”) GUEST STAR — As Laurel (Katie Cassidy) continues to unravel, Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Lance (Paul Blackthorne) try to convince Sara (guest star Caity Lotz) to stay in Starling City and finally reunite with Laurel and Dinah (guest star Alex Kingston). However, Sara’s fellow League of Assassins member, Nyssa (guest star Katrina Law, “Spartacus”), comes to bring Sara back to the fold, but when Sara refuses, Nyssa kidnaps Dinah. Realizing she’s putting her family in danger by staying in town, Sara considers re-joining the league. Wendey Stanzler directed the episode written by Jake Coburn (#213).

Do you have any scoop on Nyssa al Ghul’s arrival on Arrow— Tricia
NATALIE:
Interestingly enough, Arrow‘s version of Nyssa (Katrina Law), who is sent to hunt down Sara Lance, will be similar to her sister Talia al Ghul. “She’s the next wave of the League of Assassins that comes to Starling City,” explains executive producer Andrew Kreisberg. “She’s certainly exotic, beautiful and smart. She has some interesting secrets as well.” (Fun fact: Law almost landed the role of Shado, but because she’d share so many scenes with Manu Bennett, they thought it would be Spartacus overkill.)

Check out InTheTubBook.com for more information, and make sure to pre-order your very own copy of TJ Scott’s ‘In The Tub’ on Amazon as the regular or the special edition, to support this great cause! 100% of the profits are being donated to Breast Cancer Research.

You know nobody loves breasts more than I do. Well, with the exception of you, perhaps. We don’t just admire, leer, and ogle, we also need to preserve, protect, and defend. Thus we couldn’t be happier to promote the just cause of Spartacus and Xena director TJ Scott who got together, oh, a million of his super hot Hollywood female friends to get pretty nekkid in a bathtub for a beautiful photo book with all the proceeds going to support breast cancer charities.

If you happen to love women, boobs, or just receiving an amazing hard cover book filled with crazy hot images of sextastic celebrities in a bathtub, then I encourage you to purchase In The Tub. This is not an advertisement, just a goodwill gesture from a man who makes his living from women being so much hotter than men. TJ’s personal notes on Some of the models In the Tub:

Katrina Law: I directed Katrina in ‘Spartacus’ and then I cast her to star in my feature film ‘Death Valley’ as the Femme Fatale, so we have a very close collaborative trust. Katrina knows how to work the camera and comes up with wonderful shapes and expressions with each pose. She is in my In The Tub book more then anyone else, but this particular photo seems to be the fan favorite.
