Nyssa al Ghul (Katrina Law) is coming back to Starling City…and she’s bringing some friends!
At the end of the most recent episode of Arrow, fans were left wondering exactly what Sarah (Caity Lotz) meant when she said she was leaving town to go see “an old friend.” Now the mystery has been officially solved: “She went to go get help,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg says. “Because when you’re fighting an army, you need an army.”
The finale, titled “Unbreakable,” is an all-out war, says Kreisberg. “It’s the Arrow, Canary and Roy and the League of Assassins versus Slade and his Mirakuru army for the city.”
The comic book drama’s closer — which Kreisberg also calls “f—ing insane” — airs May 14.
Coming out to your parents is no easy task—even when you’re Nyssa al Ghul, member of the League of Assassins and daughter of famed DC Comics supervillain Ra’s al Ghul (notably played by Liam Neeson in the most recent Batman flicks).
“Telling my parents about that scene was… awesome,” Katrina Law says with a chuckle. She’s talking, of course, about her debut episode as Nyssa in CW’s “Arrow.” In a few romantically and sexually charged scenes with Black Canary, played by Caity Lotz, it’s revealed that the two women have a history beyond membership in Bad Guys ‘R’ Us. So how did that conversation go over with her real-life mom and dad?
Katrina has attended the 4th Annual Salute To The Stars Oscar Party in West Hollywood, California last night, together with Keith Andreen. You can check out 23 HQ photos in our gallery below. Special thanks to Samantha and Helen for these!
I’ve added 338 logofree HD screencaps of episode 2×13 entitled Heir to the Demon to our gallery. Enjoy!
I’ve replaced the 3 previously uploaded MQ stills with HQ pictures, and I’ve also added 5 new ones — in HQ as well, of course. You can check them all out in our gallery below! Doesn’t Katrina look absolutely badass?
I’ve just uploaded the first 3 photos of Katrina as Nyssa al Ghul in the February 5 episode of Arrow entitled “Heir to the Demon” to our gallery. You can check them out below!
Katrina Makes Her Debut as Nyssa, the Daughter of Ra’s al Ghul
The Heir to the Demon comes to Starling City.
Arrow has been exploring the DC Comics universe in increasingly notable and cool ways as it’s progressed and Season 2 has seen multiple references to a major player in DC who’s also familiar to all those who saw Christopher Nolan’s Batman films – none other than Ra’s al Ghul. Now, in the February 5th episode of Arrow, called “Heir to the Demon,” we’ll meet one of Ra’s al Ghul’s daughters, as Katrina Law (Spartacus) makes her debut on the series as Nyssa.
In the comics, Nyssa is the half-sister to Talia al Ghul and known as Nyssa Raatko. Her comic book journey has included plotting to assassinate Superman with a kryptonite bullet, only to be thwarted by Batman, and becoming the co-head of the League of Assassins, alongside Talia. On next week’s Arrow, Nyssa will be introduced as a member of the League of Assassins who want to draw Sara Lance/Canary (Caity Lotz) back into the fold. Sara isn’t so agreeable however, leading to Nyssa upping the stakes and kidnapping someone close to Sara.
Arrow executive producer Andrew Kreisberg explained, “Our Nyssa certainly has shades of Talia. Katrina auditioned for Shado and it actually came down to Katrina and Celina [Jade] and honestly, part of it was just that because we knew she’d have scenes with Slade [played by Manu Bennett], and it just felt like a Spartacus overkill. But she’s somebody that we’ve been a fan of. When this part came up, we saw a lot of people for it, but she certainly is exotic and beautiful and smart and our stunt guys are over the moon, because she can do a lot of her own stunts.” Kreisberg also noted that Nyssa is, “the next wave of the League of Assasins that comes to Starling City. But she has some interesting secrets as well…”
